Information you provide: We do not require account creation. If you contact us via email or a feedback form, we collect the information you voluntarily provide (name, email address, message).

Automatically collected information: When you visit GrowersGuide.ca, we may automatically collect standard log data including your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time of visit through Google Analytics.

Location data: If you use our weather widget and grant location permission, your device's coordinates are sent directly from your browser to Open-Meteo (openmeteo.com) and OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to retrieve local weather. We do not receive, store, or have access to your location data at any point.

Local storage: Our garden journal and weather widget preferences are stored in your browser's local storage on your device only. This data is never transmitted to our servers.

3. Cookies and Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand site traffic. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect aggregated, anonymised data about how visitors use the site. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.

Contact form submissions are retained only as long as necessary to respond. Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics default settings. Local storage data (journal, weather preferences) remains on your device until you clear your browser data or use the export/delete functions within the tools.
